Minnesota History: Building A Legacy

New Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants Awarded As Highly Competitive 2012 Grant Cycle Closes

The Minnesota Historical Society is pleased to announce that 12 organizations in 11 counties will preserve and share our state's history with support from Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants, funded by the Legacy Amendment. With this announcement, funds set aside for fiscal year 2012, which ends June 30, are now all granted.

"Requests continue to be strong and more competitive in how each meets applicable professional standards," said David Grabitske, manager of outreach services for the Minnesota Historical Society. "For this most recent round of grants, the Society received 86 applications requesting nearly $490,000, when only approximately $74,000 remained. Grant recipients are using Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants to reach new audiences and share history in creative ways--whether it's a walking tour, historical marker, exhibit or podcasts."

The Society also announced Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants deadlines for fiscal year 2013, which begins July 1, 2012.
