January 2015 Round of Legacy Small Grants Announced

The Minnesota Historical Society announces 49 recipients of Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Small Grants (up to $10,000 each) totaling $421,647 in 25 counties.

The grants are awarded quarterly to help non-profit and educational organizations, government units and tribal organizations preserve and share Minnesota history. The awards were approved on February 20, 2015, by the MNHS Executive Council.

2015 Legacy Research Fellowships to Advance Minnesota History Awarded

The Minnesota Historical Society is pleased to announce the 2015 recipients of the Gale Family Library Legacy Research Fellowships. This is the second round of fellowships awarded by MNHS, made possible by funding from the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The competitive fellowship is designed to support research on Minnesota history that is conducted at MNHS’ Gale Family Library at the Minnesota History Center. The fellowship is open to any post-college Minnesota scholar.

Over $1 million awarded to preserve Minnesota cultural and historic resources

MNHS announces the most recent recipients of over $1 million in funding from three grant programs that collectively preserve, conserve and enhance access to Minnesota’s cultural heritage.

The largest award was a State Capital Project Grant-in-Aid in the amount of $385,000 to the City of Red Wing to preserve the exterior of the Sheldon Auditorium. The Capital Grant-in-Aid program supports historic preservation projects of publicly owned buildings.

Over $3.5 Million In Historical And Cultural Heritage Grants Awarded Statewide

The Minnesota Historical Society announces the newest recipients of 41 mid-size ($10,001 - $50,000) and large ($50,001 and up) grants in 23 counties totaling $3.57 million. Mid-size and large grants are awarded once each fiscal year; they provide an unprecedented opportunity for non-profit and educational organizations, government units and tribal organizations to preserve and share the state’s history and cultural heritage.

Update: Minnesota Historical Society Announces Latest Legacy Grant Recipients

The Minnesota Historical Society announces 63 recipients of Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Small Grants (up to $10,000 each) totalling $320,046 in 39 counties, and five new Heritage Partnership Awards (external partnerships) totaling $212,025 in four counties. The grants are awarded to help non-profit and educational organizations, government units and tribal organizations preserve and share Minnesota history.

Legacy Funded Projects Win AASLH Awards

All of Minnesota's eight 2013 AASLH (American Association for State and Local History) Leadership in History Award winners received Legacy Amendment funding for their projects. Four of the winners received Legacy funding through the Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants program. The awards help confirm the quality of the work that is being done with Legacy money around the state.
